Young’s Home Comfort has been servicing the HVAC needs of those in the Upper Perkiomen Valley for more than a century!
We continue to help keep your home comfortable. Although routine HVAC maintenance can help prolong the life of your home’s heating and cooling units, there may come a time when you need to consider air conditioning replacement and/or an entire HVAC replacement.
Following are some frequently asked questions about HVAC replacement to help guide you should you ever find your home’s unit working insufficiently.
When’s The Best Time To Replace Your HVAC?
The best time to replace your home’s HVAC is before it completely quits on you. Unfortunately, that’s not always possible. (Every one of our heating and cooling customer is provided with 24-hour emergency HVAC service.)
Typically, HVAC systems need to be replaced every 10-15 years. Heating, ventilation, and cooling are probably among your largest expenses, so if your HVAC equipment isn’t keeping your home comfortable then it’s time to replace it. Moreover, today’s models are more energy-efficient and could mean lower energy bills in the future.
There are government tax incentives for systems that meet energy-efficiency guidelines.
What Is The Average Cost Of An HVAC Replacement?
The average cost to replace a home HVAC system can range from $3,000 to more than $12,000. However, there are many components to an HVAC system and yours may only need parts replaced or specific repair rather than an overhaul.
We offer year-round HVAC services. Our heating and cooling technicians can help determine whether you need installation or repair.

Are HVAC Manufacturers Required To Provide Replacement Parts?
Typically, your HVAC unit will come with a limited manufacturer’s warranty. That warranty might cover the cost of a part, but not necessarily guarantee that a replacement part is available. Labor may or may not be covered, depending on the manufacturer.
Young’s Home Comfort technicians install and service HVAC equipment from several manufacturers. We offer Comfort Plans to provide ongoing service to your equipment, including oil boilers, air conditioners, water heaters, oil furnaces, and more.
How Do I Know If My HVAC Is Under Warranty?
If you have an owner’s manual, it should be listed somewhere inside that literature. If not, check the manufacturer’s website or search the internet in general, for information regarding the warranty for your system (you might need a serial number for your heating and/or AC unit).
You can contact Young’s Home Comfort. If you’re an existing customer, we likely have it on file. If you’re not a customer, we still might be able to help but it could require a service call to gather the necessary information.
How Long Does An HVAC Replacement Take?
This time will vary depending on the complexity of the replacement, the size of your unit, and what’s involved with the changeout. Typically, an HVAC replacement will take under 8 hours. We’ll gladly offer an estimated time once we discuss your needs.
How To Check Ductwork Before HVAC Replacement And Why?
By having your ductwork inspected, you may be able to discover unit inefficiencies that don’t require a whole system replacement. Our licensed contractors can examine the ducts for crimped or twisted flexible ductwork that may be blocking airflow. They can look for air leaks in the system which may need to be sealed for optimal system performance. If they discover signs of mold or aged seals and joints, however, you will likely need a system replacement.
How Often To Change Filters To Extend The Life Of A New HVAC System (Or Existing)?
The air filter on your HVAC system should be replaced every 1-3 months. Changing your air filters should be one of the first things you do if you notice less than the optimal temperature inside while your energy costs rise. Find out the other big mistakes people do that can ruin the efficiency of an HVAC system.
